Turtle AV 8×8 4K60 Matrix Delivers Reliable Video Routing for Sand & Fun 2025
Turtle AV is proud to highlight the work of #wjuvjs, who deployed the Turtle AV 8×8 4K60 Matrix during Sand & Fun 2025, the largest general aviation airshow in the Middle East. The event, hosted at Al Thumamah Airport in Riyadh and organized by the Saudi Aviation Club, celebrates the growth of civil aviation and features world class solo and formation airshows, dynamic multimedia shows, and a nightly performance that combines 2,100 drones, advanced lighting, and a full-scale laser display.
From the airshow and broadcast production side, the event was delivered by the Poznań-based company Aeropact, the lead organizer responsible for coordinating all airshow operations and the full broadcast workflow.
For this large-scale production, Mikołaj and the WJUVJS team were responsible for designing immersive visuals, managing multimedia workflows, and supporting the hybrid broadcast experience that connected on-site storytelling with online audiences.
With more than 15 years of experience as a VJ and extensive work in phygital event design, Mikołaj required a video routing system that delivered both creative flexibility and absolute reliability.
The Turtle AV 8×8 4K60 Matrix was supplied by Turtle’s Polish distributor Commercial Audio. The unit was immediately placed into real production conditions and worked seamlessly out of the box.
“We threw the Turtle into the deep end. Straight out of the box and into action, and it didn’t let us down,” said Mikolaj Ludwik Jaksim, founder of #wjuvjs. “Everything performed perfectly from the very first moment, which gave our entire team confidence during a very demanding live production.”
The broadcast elements of the event were produced by Aeropact along with industry leaders PlanesTV, a team with more than 40 years of experience filming and streaming airshows around the world. With multiple stakeholders, tight schedules, and high public visibility, every element of the system needed to perform consistently.
Meeting the Demands of Live Airshow Production
During Sand and Fun 2025, the Turtle AV Matrix provided the stability and control required for mission critical switching. Working with a Stream Deck and Companion, Mikołaj created a set of dependable triggers that allowed him to switch between main and backup signal paths. This redundancy is a core requirement for live aviation broadcasts where continuity cannot be compromised.
“What impressed me most was how the matrix handled everything without demanding attention. The switching was quick, the signals stayed consistent, and I could focus fully on shaping the show. That is what matters during a production of this scale. No one wants to nurse equipment through an event.”
The Turtle AV Matrix provided full EDID management, ensuring each display received the correct signal format and frame rate. This prevented mismatches during fast paced transitions and kept the system stable throughout the event, making it a reliable choice for demanding broadcast environments.
Mikołaj’s Feedback on the Turtle AV Matrix
Mikołaj shared the following summary of his experience:
“The Turtle AV 8×8 4K60 Matrix quickly proved itself as a core part of our broadcast workflow. It handled signal routing with complete reliability and gave me confidence at every stage of the event. It is a stable and intuitive tool that I can fully recommend to any professional who needs dependable video management in high pressure environments.”
